Ethan Group is highly conscious of the need to be a responsible business within the community. Since the company’s foundation, we have pledged or donated more than $1.4 million in funds, equipment and services to several community groups.
Ethan Group sponsored the Fairways Fundraising Group, helping raise more than $34,000 to change the quality of life for people with asthma and their carers. Funds are used for medical research and community education programs and support services.
In addition to donating computer equipment to the Foundation, we raised money to help the organisation continue its valuable research work into cures for cancer.
Ethan Group hosted a sports trivia night for more than 100 people. The $24,000 we raised will help Good Beginnings provide free early childhood and practical parenting programs for children and families across Australia. Ethan Group has provided in-kind services to Good Beginnings’ Board for four years. Senior executives have also acted as Board members in the past.
The Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team promotes rugby union among young Aboriginal men and women to increase their participation rates in the sport. We support the Champions of Sport event, which raises funds to advance Indigenous participation in rugby. We have also donated computers and associated equipment to recipients of the organisation’s scholarships.
We provided more than 300 gifts to the Salvation Army’s ‘Christmas Gifts for Sydney’s Homeless and Underprivileged Children’ appeal, ensuring disadvantaged kids around Australia had presents to open on Christmas Day.
Ethan Group donated equipment and services to The Smith Family’s National Volunteering Week event, and arranged for more than 10,000 Christmas toys to be distributed to disadvantaged Australian children aged between 0–12 years.
Ethan Group was instrumental in establishing the Touched by Olivia Foundation in memory of an employee’s family member. We have donated significant funds to the Foundation over several years and are a major sponsor of the annual Touched by Olivia Butterfly Ball.
A good proportion of the funds have gone towards funding clinical trials for a new drug that may treat the disease that took Olivia’s life. The drug has shown an 85% success rate in clinical trials.
Our fundraising has also enabled the Foundation to build inclusive playgrounds, where children of all abilities can play side by side. The Touched by Olivia Foundation playgrounds won the 2011 International Award for Innovation from World Leisure, the top award for playspace environments. The playgrounds also won the 2010 Australian Playspace award from Parks and Leisure Association, the top Australian award for playspaces.
There are currently four inclusive playgrounds and 11 in various stages of building. The Foundation is planning to build another 10, and our support and funding will help make this happen.
“Ethan Group has pledged over $1.4 million to the Touched by Olivia Foundation. Without this funding, the Foundation would not have been able to achieve its numerous milestones.”
– John Perkins, Director of the Touched by Olivia Foundation and Olivia’s father
Ethan Group has donated computer equipment to the Uniting Care South East Region and contributed more than $15,000 to improve the care the organisation provides to the elderly.
Ethan Group is a committed supporter of Wesley Mission’s work to care for the lonely, hurt and fragile, the homeless, mentally ill, aged, disabled and unemployed. We donated to the organisation’s Spirit of Mission Community Awards Dinner, which helps raise awareness of the services it provides. We sponsored the event’s Volunteer of the Year Award.
We also donated to the Wesley Mission’s Captains & Legends Cricket Challenge, which supports the organisation’s Disability Services and Life Skills Programs. These programs help children as young as five through to teenagers and adults.
Our people also provided consulting services to help with commercial relations and transactions.
